Business developing-Decision making


Life can act funny. There is always this problem of uncertainty meaning some things working and somethings not working. So what do we do to make good decisions and see that it has a positive effect and continues to be successful in longer terms.

Marketing research has a whole lot of work involved in decision making. The first principle that a marketing researcher should know is observation. As discussed in my earlier hub marketing is successful when we give customers what they don't have and give what others cant give. Changing the "cant" to "can" can be done only by proper research through observation.

So what are the tools we have. All this can be done with the help of Management information system, MIS. With developing technology especially information technology things have eased out. MIS reports giving detail study of the market comes handy.

Now the problem with MIS comes when too much of technology can harm the process of decision making. When systems are developed the machine part and the automation can be at times risky and unreliable. Soft wares which were used before can give redundant information and likely to lead to bad decisions. The decision making manager has to ensure that the system used is up to date. Regular updates not taken might end with an old reliable system to be converted into a bizarre setup. I therefore make it a point that besides using MIS the human factor has to be given more consideration.

We as humans observe what the machine cannot. Of course we do rely more on a computer system to make calculations for example some things thanks to god are still under the control of human beings. In case when even a sound MIS cannot make decisions managers with proper experience and a well versed staff can contribute better decisions

Making visits to places, reading the newspapers is what all the common men do and business developing can be enhanced through such small practices. Regular meetings discussing opinions of people from all genre asking what they observed today or what was the research or observation each one has made. A little can change a lot.

Implementing ideas should be done after a firm decision has been made. As mentioned earlier good observation which means observing relevant people, actions and situations. We do observe commercials don't we ? and frequently try to interpret how the ad was relevant to the product and how we can learn make one since we are involved in an activity that caters to our needs of livelihood. A successful business mustn't forget this from the Oxford dictionary-"Observation means accurate watching and noting of phenomena as they occur in nature with regard to cause and effect or mutual relation"

Being aware of the facts and not rumors is also important. From selecting products of day to day needs to deciding strategies in a business empire decision making should be based on facts and concentrating on what is happening than what has happened or what is going to happen.

Studying past behavior also becomes a tool for decision making as an indirect observation. This is possible with the help of past records, films, photographs.

The question remains how much uncertainty we can expect when we think we have made the most impeccable decision!

A bit about SEO


Search engine optimization as a concept attracts us as internet marketers, hubbers and publishers. Search engine optimization is a technique of making the best out of the search engines for promoting one's business.

As discussed in my earlier hub marketing involves a lot of courage and the ability to maneuver over things to get the best results. When i talk of Brand building i really mean those Businesses which are here for longer term and are with promising output. Coco cola, Pepsi, , and many others have made a name for themselves through brand building . It is as can be said a prerequisite for any big business.

OK that was a facet of marketing. Lets get back to SEO. With the evolution of internet big small old new companies have jumped into the market with their own motive of becoming a success.To be ranked better in the search engines is for what they basically strive for. Besides the word of mouth, direct customer interface many other which i will discuss later SEO attracts a lot. We know that a search engine is looked upon as a tool for better awareness of things around and for getting relevant information; all the world has shrunk into the search engines. Google and Yahoo are the names that come up when we talk of search engines.So whats it about and how does the entire concept go.

Well websites are ranked as per their quality and indexed with an algorithm. Those with better rating make it to the top of the search result those that don't keep wondering why. Then there are those who are indeed ranked top in the results are looked upon by others as a tool for their own promotion. Then links are sold and for money the websites with greater SEO talent and less of profit earning capacity give in to them. Google did take care that the best ones win in the race so it started opposing links being sold. for a reason that quality was compromised some how Selling links become a part of black hat optimization. Many others like *article spinning meta tagging with dishonest approach are termed as black hat optimization. The white hat optimizations are those done honestly following a standard efficient way of being ranked first.As far as a search engine is concerned their motive lies in giving their customers the best result in their search page. Once it is realized that customers are dissatisfied with the results and are turning to alternatives a search engine stands to fight back. So what do we do allow black hats for profits or help Google get the white hats succeed. People selling links for profit saw that they were now ranked lower than before which distracted their inflow of money as the sponsors they had had second thoughts.

We conclusively wish that it becomes a fair play.

* Article spinning is a way in which writers are encouraged to mix up their right ups to get better stand in search results. Some times articles are copied too. Although there are stringent laws it seems tough to handle the situation. Unknowingly many do employ cheap techniques to get better off the SEO.(putting up key words in bunch unrelated and broken or ineffective as an example)

*meta tagging is similarly misused by giving unrelated non existent information in the html page.

Effective marketing

From news channels to various companies from professionals to amateurs marketing has become a core part of what it takes to earn a moolah. With increasing competition in all facets of life marketing concept had become a subject of study for management students and all others who found it a must
Comparisions are being done in the contemperory world about how good their product is with others. The most important tool of marketing is advertising. The word of mouth and the spread done therewith although a factor of time, efforts are inevitable. Aggressive marketing has become a common mantra to sucess.
The various factors that make marketing sucessful is the quench for understanding the customer's needs and make him happy. Although aggressive the norm of keeping the customer happy if followed gives you a moral win when others dont. Approaching the customer directly not just tv commercials but through marketing agents,managers, sales executives is what the trend about.
Internet marketing in which all of us on hub are involved pretty much puts light on the need of marketing. It actually teaches that every human may be of any culture background race or national origin he or she is important
A thorough study of what could be in demand or what approach would invite more leads is required for any marketing professional.What can make the customer feel that we are the best and offer what others are not offering. Ignoring the uncertain human behaviour marketing as a science has taken the grip of our social world. The art of selling oneself is also worth a mention be a doctor teacher or an engineer marketing has evolved as a part and parcel of professional life.
There remains a hope that despite the age of marketing quality of service should not be hamperered, because when one fieid is concentrated upon the others are unknowingly ignored. Production , human resources and costing department should accompany their friend branch marketing. So in case marketing is in full rage there should be associative fields who would warn that some where something is going wrong.
Frank is a marketing freelancer. When he realised that the income he is generating through sales calls is equalising the phone bill generated on his phone calls made to clients. Gosh he said and started taking his steps with caution. A sucessful business man has to have a versatile outlook and a foresight. Frank then changed his approach and sat down thinking to himself. He realized studying and knowing the product he is selling or promoting is necessary. His approach may need a reconsideration when gaining leads and sucessfully completing his call.The example of Frank here reveals a lot on where we might go wrong when we decide to ourselves that yes i am a good marketer and i will hit sale at any cost..that "cost" itself is an issue to be considered.
I read a book called "Rich dad poor dad". It clearly declares the fallacy in the American style of living. When we save less and spend more and most of the time dont get good return of the efforts we put in. All the life we are burdened and deprived of the pleasures which we could have other wise got. Thats another issue anyway but many of my readers might see a point
